Dimensional Measurement

Occasionally we are asked the question, "Can I take dimensional measurements with FlexInspector?" We have a simple feature, but in most cases the answer is "No".
In most cases, the answer is "No", although it does have a simple function.

This may be a matter of ideology, but "Because dimensional measurement is not a substitute for visual inspection. If it doesn't replace visual inspection, there is no benefit to investing in it." This is one of the reasons. Dimensions are only a small part of the information of the object. What about foreign objects? What about foreign objects? Also, if the same dimensions are to be measured, they should be measured with a measuring tool that is not affected by lens distortion or light conditions.

Furthermore, even if the tolerance for good products is ±1%, there are many situations where most good products are finished to ±0.1%, and by the time they start getting caught in the tolerance set at ±1%, you are shipping products with a considerable amount of variation. Considering the errors, a considerable number of over-tolerances are judged as good products.
If the detection capability is sufficient to catch the slightest variation that occurs in good products, it will be possible to immediately bring abnormalities in the process to light.

If we are forcing ourselves to measure and make decisions based on loose tolerances, it will be difficult to "replace visual inspection" forever.
We need to realize that "visual inspection sees everything.
