From Front-and-Back Inspection to Full-Surface Inspection: We Will Demonstrate the “ Glamichan” 6-Side Model at JIMTOF 2026

From front-and-back inspection to full-surface inspection, including the sides. We will demonstrate “ Glamichan” at JIMTOF 2026.

We have added four cameras to the " Glamichan" small-part good-product sorting system to inspect the sides of the parts.

We are moving from our previous two-sided inspection system to a six-sided type that inspects the top, bottom, and all four sides. We will be exhibiting and demonstrating the actual machine at Sangen Co., Ltd.’s booth at JIMTOF 2026.

■ I want to inspect not only the front and back, but also the sides

The previous " Glamichan" was a device that used a glass table to capture images of and inspect both sides of small parts.

Since the underside can be imaged through transparent glass, there is no need for a mechanism to flip the parts over. Its simple design enables high-speed inspection and sorting.

On the other hand, aspects that cannot be verified based solely on images of the front and back are also subject to inspection.

Therefore, we have added four cameras for imaging and inspecting the sides. Combined with the two existing cameras for the top and bottom, a total of six cameras now enable a full-surface inspection.

Images are captured from all directions while the parts are being transported on a glass table, without using a mechanism to reposition them. By leveraging the system’s simple structure and high-speed inspection capabilities, we have expanded the range of parts that can be inspected.

■ Watch the actual machine in continuous operation

At the exhibition, you can see actual machines operating continuously—from parts feeding to imaging, inspection, and sorting.

Components fed from the parts feeder are captured by six cameras and inspected by comparing them to good parts and using AI. Defective parts are then sorted out.

■ Creating AI-powered software to perform inspections using AI

This system also utilizes new visual inspection software developed using AI coding.

We organize the know-how we have accumulated through years of development and on-site support into design documents, and then use AI to develop software based on those documents.

We use AI not only for inspections but also in the process of developing and improving inspection software.

The ability to add and improve the features needed on-site with our own hands. We believe that the development capabilities required to do so are also essential for ensuring that our visual inspection equipment continues to be used.

■ Simple, Affordable, and Fast Visual Inspection Equipment

Even if we want to automate visual inspections, if the equipment becomes too complex and the implementation costs rise, the project will no longer be cost-effective.

Our goal is to commercialize and expand our lineup of simple, affordable, and fast visual inspection equipment.

The six-sided version of “ Glamichan” is also one such initiative.
