Industries where robots can be utilized

The other day, I was talking with the president of a company that deals with deburring and polishing robots.

There were several stories similar to the visual inspection industry we are in.

What it means,

(1) Basically, trying to use robots to replace tasks that can be done by humans.

(2) Users want full automation, but it is better to consider collaboration with people.

(iii) The business model has not been established, or the work is not profitable.

...

Regarding (1), the investment cost that can be spent by the user is determined by the fact that it is a task that can be done by a person.

Polishing and finishing operations differ in that they require more skill than visual inspection,

This is not an industry where robots are absolutely necessary because the work is hot and dangerous.

The visual inspection industry is a tough industry where the market is large but the process is not that costly.

As for (2), it seems that there are many cases where a tall order is made to fully automate the process, but it soon stops working,

That is why we should not try to do everything with robots.

And it's better to keep the specifications as simple as possible,

This president's conclusion is that it is better to consider the segregation of areas of expertise between robots and people.

I know I've made a lot of mistakes, but for some reason they won't listen to me (sigh)."

We agree with this president's words.

As for (iii), the price of the robot is coming down, but it is meaningless just to purchase it.

When you want to have a skilled worker replace a skilled worker, not everything is easy.

The reality is that they are taking out more than expected.

Hearing from people in other industries,

Our company's position and the path we should take will become clearer.
