Blind spots in lighting selection

What is the most important aspect of lighting selection?

High contrast of defects? No, it is not.

  • The images should be similar when the same object is imaged.
  • Good products should have the same image.

Illumination conditions that forcibly increase the contrast of defects often result in unstable images of good products. Increasing contrast means that even small changes in contrast can produce large changes in the image, and it is natural that good images will be unstable.

It depends on the inspection processing method, but even with the current mainstream methods such as "area with fixed binarization", we cannot use an illumination system that causes variations in the images of good products.

Lighting manufacturers, do you really understand what you are doing?
